I have been an aficianado of your films ever since I was an adolescent self made student of cinema from St. Xavier's School, Calcutta who used to visit the fabulous Chitrabani film library regularly (My initiation with your films has been through Fr. Gaston Roberge who was the erstwhile in-charge there and also a film scholar) and it is still going strong after I watched your last film "Naukar ki kameez" based on the novel by the same name written in Hindi by Vinod Kumar Shukla at the recently concluded film festival in Calcutta. My intention behind learning Dutch is to be a student of yours at the Rotterdam film school (as told to me by a film journalist from Calcutta, Shoma Chatterjee who met you at a sound in films workshop in London early this year)where you teach. as I have lost all faith in going to film schools in India like the FTII and the SRFTII. Wish to be your assistant someday. But one is yet to see some of your films like THE CLOUD DOOR, GAMAN, ASAD KA EK DIN, SA!
THA SE UTHA HUA AADMI , DHRUPAD, MATIR MANUSHA. I would like to know whether you are working on your new film with Suresh Jindal as I had read in a special number of CINEMAYA in 1996 focussed on you and your oeuvres. I would like to organise a retrospective of your films alongwith my other associates in Calcutta provided you co-ordinate with me on this. Looking forward to your feedback.
