| Comments | : | My husband-to-be is Dutch
and so are our 3 children (Dutch-American). We are getting married on December 14,
2001 and I would like to be able to speak my wedding vows in Dutch and be able to
understand what my future mother-in-law is saying. I would also like to eventually
learn Dutch well enough that we could live there if we decide to. I have a degree
in Business Administration, but it would not do me much good in Holland if I could
not tell anyone what I know. I lived in Holland for about 4 months but only know a few words of Dutch. I can definitely tell the difference between Dutch and German. (I have been told that this is VERY important.) I have studied the pronunciation of the vowels and have basic understanding of how words are made plural and some other very basic grammar. I do have the advantage of having a fiance who speaks fluent Dutch, but he is currently working in Germany until November, so I only get to speak with him on the phone and don't have much time to practice...plus I would like it to be a surprise. |
